The emerging retail market in China has the scale, scope and opportunity to be perhaps the most significant market in the world. Although there is no lack of construction skills many developers are adopting a ‘one size fits all’ approach to retail development. This is as inappropriate to China as it is anywhere in the mature markets of Europe and North America. We are working to identify potential winners and losers ensuring that tried and tested processes are applied to new developments, using this information to ensure that potential European entrants to the market are fully briefed on the opportunities.
